Base doll is a Luria D.I.M. BJD

She is from my personal collection and I created her face-up using mostly pale pink tones to add to her melancholy look

She has special blue eyes and will come with an extra set as well

She will come dressed in the pink Melacacia Angel dress and Melacacia stockings shown in photos

She will also come with the two mohair wigs (black and blond) by Kemper

Her measurements are as follows:

- Height: 44cm

- Circumference of Neck 7.3cm

- Circumference of Bust : 18.2cm

- Circumference of Shoulder : 6.8cm (including shoulder:8.5cm )

She comes with all of her original stock clothes and box

and will also travel in this adorable Button Arcade Dress, because I think suits her so well Smile

She is in great condition, has a working eye mech and all original makeup

she is quite the character and just photographs beautifully!

She has the following issues:
Her scalp was removed, washed and reattached. It appears to have some slight heat damage to a small section of her hair (looks a little "crimpy"in that spot)
I replaced her original Licca body with a new Licca body because her original one was so stained with red from her stock clothes.
*If you'd like the original body to be included, let me know and I'd be happy to include it*
Her back plate has some slight crazing but none appear to be actual cracks. This is quite common in the older Takara Blythe dolls (BLs and EBLs).

Meet Ingrid ^__^

This sweetheart is my newest addition, Ingrid. I made her out of a bunch of random doll parts that I pieced together. Two different SBL plates (both slightly damaged, poor baby), an EBL eye mech (also a little bit damaged), a PN body, and a beautiful two toned alpaca scalp.

Ingrid is named after the incredible singer/songwriter, Ingrid Michaelson, because she was inspired by her song "Be OK" with all of her "broken parts" ;)

I did the following work on her:

Fully sanded
Carved mouth and nose
All new makeup applied in natural tones and sealed with MSC
4 new sets of my Melacacia hand painted eye chips
Alpaca rerooted scalp that I commissioned Piparrot to do for me (Thanks, Pip!)
I painted her eye lids to say "BE OK" to represent the song ;)

My goal in my work is to bring these dolls to life. I am inspired by emotion and try to give each girl her own unique personality to match the emotion I would like to convey.

I graduated from HSU in 2003 with a degree in Studio Art and I feel so lucky to be able to use that experience for something I truly enjoy doing and am successful in. I am able to combine my skills in painting, sculpting, photography, graphic design, sewing, and communication to get to the end result. I love creating things and this niche is the perfect way for me to express my creativity and share it with people worldwide.

My dolls are recognized in the Blythe Doll community as true works of art and I have sold my work all over the world. My dolls have been purchased in places like Japan, Australia, South Africa, Russia, Sweden, France, Italy, Brazil, Canada, and here in the United States. I have met so many wonderful people and have been fortunate enough to acquire a very loyal following. I have created 99 custom dolls thus far.

I am happy to present Sequoia!

She is my 98th custom blythe doll creation.

As she emerges from the icy cold waters of the pacific ocean, Sequoia can feel the wet sand forming fleeting shapes between her toes.
A cool breeze presses against her back as if urging her into the redwood forest.
She can't wait to get back home and feels as though her legs can't move fast enough.
Finally her feet begin to recognize the mossy forest floor beneath her. She pulls back the branches of an enormous redwood tree and enters into the foggy scene.
Pausing to run her fingers along the thick coat of ferns, she inhales a deep cool breath of coastal redwood air, taking it all in....
Home at last.

I will be taking more photos of her and her accessories throughout the week and adding them here.

Rag Doll ~ A few details....

I just wanted to point out a few details, which I forgot to point out in the listing:

Fist, in the listing I mentioned that Rag Doll comes with a separate slip that goes underneath the dress, however I forgot to post the picture of it >_<

It is quite simple and just an undergarment, but I still should have shown the photo :)

I also failed to talk about the custom box that she comes in. Similar to my previous custom doll, Mathilda, I made this special box out of an unfinished wooden box that was then distressed, stained, and decorated:

As you can see from the images, Rag Doll has a custom body. It is a Pure Neemo body which I love because it is so expressive. I forgot to mention this in the listing too :P

My newest Custom Blythe Doll Creation, Rag Doll

Melacacia Custom #96 ^_^

Custom Work:

Completely sanded and all new media was applied
including sweet freckles & custom stitches
Her mouth, eyes and nose were carved
All of her eye chips were replaced with my signature hand
painted eye chips and one pair of special button chips
She was boggled, gaze lifted, and given sleepy eyes
with new pull charms/beads
She has new delicate black eye lashes and is sealed w/ MSC

Her scalp is rerooted with beautiful silky black alpaca hair
Her dress(es) were designed and made by me using new fabrics that I
distressed to make look old and tattered. I also made her a seperate slip
underneath as well as the hair accessories and stockings (2 pairs).
The little teddy bear was hand made by my mom, TutuBella, just for this doll♥

She will come with the custom doll stand and box which are both made of wood.
Both were stained and designed/created by me.

All items were made by me (except for the shoes and the bear :)
with love, inspiration, and great attention to detail

Did you know that for every ONE minute, TWO children are sold into commercial slavery and exploitation? I learned this horrifying stat while researching an organization called Love146, a nonprofit my friend Stacie had told me about.

A few months ago, she shared this organization's website with me, and together we knew we wanted to do something to help Love146 in their mission to abolish slavery and rescue and restore these victimized children's lives.

Over the next couple of months, we'll be working on a very special customized Blythe doll, and 100% of the auction proceeds will go directly to Love146.

We are looking for others who would like to collaborate with us on this doll and donate their time and talents in the following areas:

* Mohair reroot services

* Sewing custom outfit to go with theme

* Design of props, stand, and/or special case

Stacie is donating the doll and I will be customizing the face (face-up) and painting the eye chips.

In this photo, the focal point is of course, the box.. As that is what the photograph is about.. However I thought I would point out a couple of details just for fun :)

This doll, Mathilda, was named after my great grandmother, Mathilda.. And she is the woman in the photograph on the left.
Her daughter, Lorraine (my grandmother) was my inspiration for the dress style which some of you may already know as my "Lorriane dresses" and that is the dress that I made for Mathilda (the doll)...
The medium format camera in this photo belonged to my grandmother Lorraine. She passed away less than a year ago and is dearly missed. She, like my mother, my sister, and myself, was an artist..... She was also a very intelligent and strong willed woman.. I can find much inspiration when I think of her and I did when I created this doll, Mathilda.
I just wanted to share, as I realize that no one would know the significance of this photograph (or this doll) unless I pointed it out ;)

While sifting through old items in the attic of your great grandmother's turn of the century home, you hear a thump in the corner of the room.
As you get up, you hear it again and follow the sound to a small wooden box sitting on top of an antique dresser.
Brushing away the cobwebs and dust, you see an image of a doll affixed to the top of the box with the name Mathilda above it.
Mathilda, that was your great grandmother's name.
With trembling fingers, you open the box slowly, as if in a trance.
Instantly struck by her human-like beauty, you see a magnifinent doll who appears to be sleeping in her cozy little box.
You pick her up gently and her eyes blink open. She looks at you and you can not stop staring into her eyes, it's as if she can see into your soul.
Have we met before in a dream? you wonder... Holding her close to your heart, as your great grandmother once did, you know this doll will once again be treasured.

I created this box using an antique chest that belonged to my grandmother as
my inspiration.
The original box was unfinished, so I distressed it using a hammer and a knife
and then I stained it before adding the photos, etc.
It is a nice little wooden box and I thoroughly enjoyed creating it especially for
this doll.
I hope you love it as much as I do :)

But they just ended up feeling guilty the whole time for excluding the others and once again, Carsten is in tears.

Blythecon came and went

We had a great time in Portland and Blythecon was such a wonderful experience. A room full of people who know what I am talking about when I say EBL, Reroot, Pure Neemo, and Boggled? What more could a girl ask for! :)

I was so busy the whole time that I didn't get a chance to take as many pictures as I would have liked. I also didn't get to see half of the room! So I know that there were a lot of people that I didn't even get to meet. But the people that I did meet were so sweet and I really appreciated when Gina Garan came over to my table so I could say hi to her... If she hadn't done that I don't think I would have been able to see her! Thanks to everyone who stopped by my table to introduce themselves and/or purchase some of my dresses and chips! Thank you also to those of you who put a bid on my Sailor Doll, I really appreciate it. Congratulations to Karen for being the one to bring her home ♥

Overall it felt like an inspiring group of creative people. Actually it felt like a room full of friends as I already "knew" so many. It was refreshing to finally meet the human behind the dolls that I would recognize at one glance, I just loved it. And I truly appreciate all of the hard work and time that went into it. Thank you Julie, Maggie and Kyle!

I hope there will be another Blythecon soon, I will be much more prepared the next time around :)

I created this little sailor girl for Blythecon 2011. Her name is Portland, in honor of the city in which Blythecon takes place :)

She is a full Melacacia custom doll created from an RBL mold

Sand matted
All new media applied to face
Carved mouth and nose
4 new sets of my hand painted eye chips
Sprayed sealed with MSC
Alpaca rerooted scalp (knot method)

I created her outfit and doll stand with a sailor theme in mind
The musical base plays "Beyond the Sea" when turned

I will take more photos of her at Blythecon before she finds her new mom (or dad) :)

The dolls are scared of losing our account again, so they are in hiding....

The good news is, my account wasn't deleted without warning this time. The bad news is, I did receive a warning and my account has, again, been threatened.

So I would like to make it clear, just in case it is unclear, that my Flickr account is solely for the purpose of sharing photos of things I love to create and love to look at... I am not using Flickr to sell things and I do not post links to anything that I do sell.

I am really looking forward to the day when we all move to a better site where we can post freely and not be treated like a bunch of criminals for posting pictures and sharing them!

I haven't had much time to work on this girl, but she is coming together. I adopted her from Alisa a few months ago and had started on her face then... But then I had to stop to focus on Blythecon stuff.
I have two incomplete mohair rerooted scalps to decide between. I am leaning toward the brighter red scalp, but it needs a lot more work than the other one which only needs about one row....
Either way she probably won't be done in time for me to bring her Blythecon... I have just been so busy getting everything else ready that I didn't get as much done on the scalps (or her) as I had hoped, But I do like how she is turning out! yay! A redhead! :)

I completely customized her and her customizations are:

Completely sanded
Carved nose and mouth
All new media applied to face
4 pairs of my hand painted eye chips (one blue set is a Takara chip that I painted, the other 3 sets are my signature eye chips)
Sleepy eyes, gaze correction, slightly boggled
She has a beautiful saran reroot in two tones of reddish brown (not done by me).
She has a Licca body that has loose hips.
I will send her in one of my Angel dresses.

* She is from my personal doll collection and not a doll that I created to sell... She was intended as a part of my doll family and although she is in great condition, she is not a brand new creation (OOAK Artdoll). She means a lot to me and I hope she finds a wonderful home.

Today is a very special day for me. For it is the day that both of my children came into my life, one year apart.
After trying for 5 years to conceive without success, we began the process of adoption 7 years ago. When we were denied by Taiwan because of our young age, we made plans to adopt from Ethiopia later that year instead.
Then we received a phone call from our adoption agency on April 8th, 2005. A baby girl was born at our local hospital and the birthmom wanted to meet us. Within two hours of that phone call, we were holding our new daughter in our arms. She was less than a day old and the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.
A few months later another miracle occurred, I found out that I was pregnant. Exactly one year after our daughter came into our lives, our son was born.
I am the most blessed mother in the world and this date will forever hold a special place in my heart ♥
Today is MY mother's day :)

Back home

We spent the last 6 days with our family on the coast... It was a really great time and was worth all of the detours it took to get there after major land slides closed off highway 101.
Now, back at home, I am planning out my work schedule and ready to get going on all that needs to be done before Blythecon in June. My sewing machine better be ready, because I am putting it to some serious work over the next few months :)

Here are a few pics that I took while we were visiting the Ocean and the Redwood Forest.. It did make me miss my home town a little bit ♥

Base doll was an SBL (Enchanted Petal)
She was opened and taken apart skillfully

Her face was completely sanded and all new makeup was applied
Her lips, chin and nose were carved to mimic Eliza's features
She has new delicate tea brown eye lashes
All of her eye chips were removed and replaced with my signature

She was boggled, gaze lifted and given sleepy eyes

I removed the lips that she came with and repainted them. I also made some slight adjustments to the eyes, eyebrows and I gave her new blue eyes. What a difference!

She arrived today and I am happy she is finally here.

I am a little disappointed with her... sadly :( I do like her and want her to stay, I think it will just take some time to get used to her. The body is so different than Acacia's. The joints are very odd and the proportions are strange as well. I will do her faceup over because it is not what I had hoped for. I normally would just get the blank doll so I can do the faceup myself, but I fell in love with how they had her on the website and didn't think I could improve on that face... But she did not come looking like that photo, unfortunately. I am confident, however, that I can turn her into the girl she is "meant" to be ;) The face mold and skin tone both are gorgeous.

I think she is sweet and will make a great addition and a great model. I was going to name her Tiger Lily, but now that I see her I don't think it fits her... She needs a more boyish name.

When I had the idea to set up and take this photo, it was from a mother's perspective (myself as the mother). But once I took the photo and looked at it, I could only see myself as the child in the photo....It brought back memories that I have from my childhood of hiding behind my mom's leg when I was scared or shy.
I don't know why this struck me as so strange, but it did. :)

She is finally finished <3

This beautiful girl has been waiting so long to be complete, I feel so badly... But am so happy to say that she is finally done!

I replaced 3 sets of her eye chips because they were cloudy. I fixed her eye mech and freshened up her face a little bit (light sanding and blush added). She still has issues with her right eye lashes, but I don't want to remove them, I think they will just be part of her character ;)

Sarah Boirin and I did a commission trade and she did this reroot for me. She did exactly what I wanted and I am very happy. Thank you, Sarah!

I finished my 82nd Custom Doll, Love Sick ♥

Inspired by the upcoming holiday, Valentine's Day, "Love Sick" was created as a love sick girl ♥

She spends her days in sorrow, rubbing her eyes and holding on to the withered roses that her love once gave to her

Her hair is was replaced with mohair which was rerooted using the knot method

Her custom dress I made using beautiful 100% silk dupioni
I made her stockings and her hair piece to match the dress
She also comes with the Victorian granny boots shown in photos
All fabrics and items were bought new and then I customized everything to give it an antique appearance

I created the rose covered heart for her to stand and/or lay on and this includes the doll stand

I had to take a break from the dress last night after I was attempting to fix it and accidentally sewed the sleeve back on inside out, backwards, you name it... I guess I was kind of tired ;)
This morning, however, I fixed it without a problem.... and I also figured out how to fix my camera's time settings as well :D

I don't understand how this happens! I am working with the same patterns that I have used many times for a Pure Neemo body and I still managed to completely cut it wrong or something.. Look at that shoulder! It is like 1/2 an inch bigger than it is supposed to be! I can fix it, but I am still really irritated with myself right now and had to vent. LOL

At least Teagan looks cute ;)

My friend, Suzan, posted this image this morning on Facebook and although I am a Mark Ryden fan, I had never seen this piece before! I love it, of course :)

So, then I started doing some research on it and realized that it is everywhere! From prints sold on Ebay to sets of holiday cards.... Where have I been? :D

Anyway, If you are not familiar with Mark Ryden's work, here is a fairly recent article that I found to be interesting (with an interview of the artist). And showing one of his meat themed paintings.

I love his approach to the meat industry. It is basically the same way I approach meat when it comes to feeding my children. I tell them exactly what it is (ham = pig, beef = cow, etc) before they decide on what they want and then they can make the choice themselves whether or not they are OK with consuming that.... Usually they are not so they rarely (very rarely) consume meat products. Meat is so disguised that I can see why it took me until I was 13 years old to realize that I wanted to be a vegetarian! And it tastes good! But once I truly understood what meat was and how it was "made" it didn't matter to me how good it tasted. I felt morally compelled to stray from meat and 20 years later I don't regret it one bit.

See what art can do? I see a simple Mark Ryden image and it becomes this entire speech about eating meat! :D That is what I love about art though.... It can inspire something inside of us like nothing else can. and even if Mark Ryden himself is not a vegetarian, I respect his approach, which is awareness. I do believe that human beings are intelligent enough to make conscientiousness decisions by themselves and not be controlled by habit or be tricked by meat in disguise.... It's just a matter of them feeling that it is important enough to do something about it.

Well enough about that.. What I really came here to say was Happy Christmas Eve! ;)
